Jim Beckham, TACTICIAN
Jim Beckham, is a founding member and President of R&R Global, and one of the world’s preeminent expert’s in resort vacation ownership operations and development. Beckham has over 29 years of experience in the resort and vacation ownership industry. In the last twelve years of this experience he has served as a consultant for RCI, the world’s leading timeshare Exchange Company and more recently with Global Resorts Prior to joining RCI, he worked sixteen years for Fairfield Communities (now Wyndham Resorts), a major resort developer and the largest timeshare company in the world. He succeeded on many levels with Fairfield, which earned him a “Rookie of the Year Sales Representative” award and later the prestigious “President's Club” Regional Vice President Award for several consecutive years service.
During his tenure with Fairfield, Beckham was the initial Vice President of Sales at two start-up projects. As Executive Vice President and General Manager for a 22,000 acre Colorado resort with lot, timeshare and condominium sales, he was re¬sponsible for a 150-room resort hotel with three restaurants, 27 holes of golf, and property manage¬ment of over 400 condo and timeshare units. In Mr. Beckham's capacity as Regional Vice President of the Western Region for Fairfield Communities, he had operational, budgetary and bottom line responsibilities for three full-service resort and retirement communities, four vacation ownership sales operations, and a full-service snow skiing operation. He coordinated innovative onsite sales generation programs, marketing in¬terface, new product design, construction and implementa¬tion, and analysis of new market areas for growth opportunities. During a two-year period, he improved the bottom line operations from multi-million dollar losses to an operating profit of more than $1 million. During his last several years with Fairfield Communities, Inc., Beckham was intimately involved with the devel¬opment of Fairfield’s Vacation Club. He gained significant understanding of both the sales opportunities of this innovative points-based product and property manage¬ment problems associated with customer satisfaction with this versatile vacation program.
As the timeshare industry began to interface with other leisure segments, Beckham, in his Consulting capacity, has worked with a variety of mixed-use resort developers on designing timeshare and Private Residence Clubs (Fractions) into the overall resort mix; hotel developers on conversion of hotel rooms to vacation ownership; and campground companies and RV manufacturers on integration of a vacation ownership prod¬uct into this fast growing leisure segment. He implemented and com¬pleted a two-year program that successfully brought Marcus Hotels into the time¬share industry and as¬sisted a leading financial institution by directly managing the workout of a high-end Fractional Resort. He has extensive experience doing sales and marketing analysis for troubled vacation ownership properties and developing programs leading to more effi¬cient and profitable timeshare and fractional operations. Beckham is currently a Trustee of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), is a certified Registered Resort Professional (RRP), and has been a speaker on Sales and Marketing, and Property Management for both Fractional and Timesharing programs at annual conferences. He was a founding member of the Colorado ARDA chapter in 1991, and served as the initial Chair person of ARDA Carolinas. Prior to his career in the vacation ownership industry, Mr. Beckham served as a fighter pilot in the US Air Force. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville School of Business and a Masters Degree in Management from Troy State University.
