John-Martin Meyer, GAME CHANGER
John-Martin Meyer, is Chief Executive Officer of Global Initiatives and a Strategic Associate of R&R Global Hospitality where he assists the firm in matters pertaining to casino development, gaming device operations, and casino design.
Mr. Meyer has over 30 years of experience serving in the capacity as a senior level executive for “High Visibility” integrated resorts located on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. Prior to founding Global Gaming Initiatives and becoming its Chief Executive Officer in 2006, Mr. Meyer was a Vice President in the Gaming department of the Excalibur Casino. Concurrently with his duties at the Excalibur, Mr. Meyer oversaw a wide range of gaming related initiatives for Mandalay Resort Group’s 14 casinos located in four states. His involvement with Mandalay Resort Group’s wide ranging gaming related initiatives encompassed the employment of thousands of employees and the oversight of 25,000 gaming devices. Throughout his 12-year tenure at Mandalay Resort Group, Mr. Meyer gained extensive experience growing gaming performance and creating programs that improved operational oversight for all classification of gaming establishments. His assigned responsibilities during this time included being a member of teams who were assigned the duty of conducting development for companywide expansions, acquisitions, and openings of new properties.
As Global Gaming Initiatives Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Meyer primarily has focused on casino design and development projects such as; major Native American casinos and high end commercial integrated resorts like the Cosmopolitan and Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas. His duties included; design, forecasts, procurement, training preopening staff and gaming control board compliance. This well-rounded background has given Mr. Meyer the opportunity to work in multi-jurisdictional gaming in states such as: California, Oklahoma, Illinois, Michigan, and Mississippi.
In 2011, Mr. Meyer was granted an “Unrestricted Gaming License” by the Nevada Gaming Control Board which enabled him to own and operate “Fully Integrated Resorts with Gaming” such as those found on the Las Vegas Strip. Mr. Meyer held this license in good standing through January 2017.
Mr. Meyer maintains a strong presence in gaming industry related events, development and education initiatives. He has been a featured columnist in four of gaming’s most prominent gaming publications: Slot Manager Magazine, Casino Enterprise Management, Casino Journal, and Slot Tech magazines.
He has been a featured speaker in such prestigious venues as the Global Gaming Expo - Las Vegas and Asian Casino Expo - Singapore.
Mr. Meyer attended the #1 ranked Hotel College in the World, the University of Nevada – Las Vegas’ Hotel and Gaming College, where he majored in Managerial Finance and minored in Hotel Administration and serves as an Adjunct Professor where he teaches a wide range of courses at the International Gaming Institute.
